Papa Records is based in North East London and was established in early 2001 by Oli Lazarus. The label was set-up to create a platform for the type of independent soulful sounds that inspired Oli as a DJ and producer. To date the label has released forty-six singles and five albums, all of which have been supported by club and radio DJs all around the world. These have included Masters at Work, Gilles Peterson, Phil Asher, Bugz in the Attic, DJ Spinna, Jazzanova, Patrick Forge, Joey Negro, Mr. Scruff plus many, many more.
Major artists that feature on the label are Reel People, DJ Spinna, Domu presents Pete Simpson and Blaze to name a few but the label goes further featuring so many other credible artists.
Now into its eighth year the label has firmly made it’s mark as a quality outlet for the best in soulful dance, nu-jazz and soul.

The Realm feat. Tony Momerelle 'Take You There' (Incl. Ray Jones Remixes) | 
After the beautiful release of ‘Time’ earlier in 2009, Papa Records are delighted to present the brand new single ‘Take You There’ from The Realm feat. Tony Momrelle.
After numerous superb remixes, ‘Take You There’ is The Realm’s 4th original offering on Papa Records. The Realm is a stellar collaborative project with the main members being Oli Lazarus (Reel People), Pete Kuzma (Kanye West / A Touch of Jazz) and Toni Economides.
Tony Momrelle is one of the UK’s most underrated vocalists. Being the front man for the last 7 years for the musical institution that is Incognito, Tony has also recorded and toured with musical heavyweights such as Sade, Robert Palmer & Take That. Tony also featured heavily on the Reel People – ‘Seven Ways To Wonder’ album and again returns later this year on a brand new Reel People EP.

Papa Records are delighted to welcome new signing The Layabouts for their debut single release on the label ‘Give Me Your Trust’. Featuring the powerful vocals of Yvonne, the single yet again showcases their signature sound which has been earning them a lot of attention over the last 18 months.
The Layabouts are North London based trio Leigh Darlow , Alex Paschali and Ben Logan who have been DJ-ing and producing music together for the last 7 years. Having already dropped 3 heavy remixes for Papa over the last few months, the guys have also been heavily in demand remixing for top labels such as Soulfuric, Defected & Mn2S.
Fresh from his outstanding Tales From The Deepside 2 EP on SOLE Channel, Papa is also delighted to welcome a first collaboration with NYC hip house don Mr. V, who delivers 3 super soulful remixes. Also included in the package is long time friend of the label Werner Niedermeier’s remixes. Hailing from Berlin, Werner has been producing and DJ-ing for many years under many different guises but now give us a taste of what’s to come under his own name.
‘Give Me Your Trust’ is a soulful-tek bomb and shows why 2009 is set to be a big year for The Layabouts!!!!!!!!
